Regional Forums

Over half of the 50 million school-age children in the US live in poverty, and most of these attend public schools without the resources to close that opportunity gap. Children of poverty are not growing into the fullness God intended for them. Dropout and unemployment rates in some areas approach epidemic proportions, at great personal, social, and economic cost.

How are people of faith invited to respond to this crisis? What would it look like if we were to follow God into the neighborhood and up the schoolhouse steps? How can we be wise as serpents and gentle as doves as we confront structural injustice and also paint walls, tutor third graders, and mentor tenth graders?

Across the country congregations are forming grassroots partnerships with under-resourced schools to meet student needs, build community coalitions of support, and advocate for systemic change. In 2016 All Our Children will be co-sponsoring six regional forms to help congregations begin or advance their journeys into partnership; form a community of support; and find local expert resources, tools, and materials.
